Introductory Project Management

Overview

Learn effective strategies and tools for initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing a project.

Who Should Attend:

Supervisors, middle management, team leaders, or anyone responsible for helping a team initiate; plan, execute, control and close out projects in an effective and timely manner

Course Objectives:

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

·Define key Project Management concepts

·List and describe the purposes of the Project Management phases or process groups

·Develop a Statement of Work (SOW), a Project Charter, Work Breakdown Structure, WBS and scope statement

·Create and demonstrate the use of project schedules, resource plans and cost estimates

·Define and organize the activities and tasks of a project into a logical, sequential plan with allocated resources

·Set up and conduct a project execution “kick-off” meeting

·Be able to measure, evaluate and make adjustments to the project plan

·Generate project “change orders” and conduct project status reviews

·Create and use “punch lists” and explain project closing activities

·Identify key characteristics and responsibilities of the project manager
