Facilitator Skills for Boards

Overview

Increase the effectiveness of board meetings as well as build consensus within the organization and community.

Who Should Attend:

Leaders/members of governmental, non-profit, or other community boards who wish to improve their ability to make meetings more productive, reduce meeting time, gather public input effectively, improve task accomplishment, and increase results. The course will be offered on an open enrollment basis, or if you wish to enroll your entire board, training can be customized to address the specific needs of your organization.

Course Objectives:

At the end of the session, participants will be able to:

·Identify the basic components of an effective meeting

·Identify the roles of leader and facilitator and identify strategies to address the conflicts when assuming both roles

·Apply the “Plan, Do, Study, Act” cycle to continuously improve meeting management

·Develop an effective meeting plan that will inform the appropriate people and accomplish the stated objectives through appropriate processes

·Use successful meeting management strategies

·Deal with difficult meeting participants

·Use strategies that aid in building consensus
